My vote also is for Simple Green (green bottle, not yellow) full strength & regular hose. SG also works great on tires (gets that 'real' flat black w/o shine, although on some tires it will make them look brownish, and makes raised whites really pop), vinyl convertible top cleaner (dilute 1:3 & soft bristle brush) & interior stain remover (dilute 1:3; try not to hit the "polished" components on dash/interior). Kind of a poor man's clean-all!

use cleaner then just spray it down , water wont do anything to it , cover the alt. and air filter if its showing, and let it dry or if you really want her to shine hand dry it with really fluffy towels, to remove all water so there wont be water spots, it take a little longer but the after effect is well worth it, i use our beach towels, ( my mom gets pissed ) but it looks AMAZING, then tire shine on the hoses

no armor all it has silicone in it. that will dry out hose and plastic. the real bad thing is is you need to have your car paint for any reason. silicone and paint do not mix very will and silicone last a long time.

I know that you suppose to cover distributor / distributor cap, battery, and ignition coil...
I don't know much about engine. so if possible, could someone upload a " picture" of the parts of the engine that need to be covered before spraying the degreaser? much appreciated!

How about using Gunk? It's pretty easy just spray on let it soak then rinse off comes out pretty clean.

never ever use the above reference garbage .....

it leaves residue and will deteriorate hoses , vacuum lines and anything else rubber.....

not to mention it will stain plastic items.....

The alternator and distributor cap. There is a good chance that it will get condensation in distributor making starting car very troublesome.

Simple Green makes an engine degreaser product. I use that. VERY effective. I spray it down the engine, then use a pressure hose, but i dont get too close, you have to becareful of your electrical connectors. Then i wipe it dry with a towel. Followed by armour all.
