Question cleaning under the hood

hey guys. with it getting warmer here in MI, im doing a thorough sleaning of the entire car. Im wondering what kind of products to use for the under-the-hood components such as the hoses, lines, etc? Most of it I can just use a clean terry cloth since its mostly black plastic, but just wondering if something else, like simple green, would be safe? thanks!!

I'm not sure if it's flamable or not, but you're not using a lot of it. In fact, I don't spray it directly on the engine. I spray a rag, then wipe the plastic & rubber parts down. Usually, I do it when I'm detailing for a show and the hood stays up all day.

OK, so I've added a few things to it. Check my Profile - too many to list here.
