no. pressure washing an engine will cause you a lot problems with loose wires that will rust over or places were water will get into that its not supposed to be in. best way of washing an engine is using a damp cloth to wipe it down

pressure washing is fine just watch what your doin and cover your main electrical components with bags. trust me I've done it to all my cars and never had issues.

you can pressure wash it and have nothing happen, but you are taking the risk that something will happen. there are too many wires (spark plug wires/coils) that you cant really cover up too good. we had a member on here earlier this year that did this to his mach 1 and had so many electrical problems because of it.

Personally I wouldnt take the risk of spraying water about the engine compartment.Like said above use a damp cloth.
Especially with a few years on the car there may be some tiny cracks in elec. components , get moisture in a coil and youll have an immediate misfire.

Personally I wouldn't I wold just dedicate an hour or 2 to just going through with a wet rag and cleaning everything that is dirty with avoiding everything electrical. I have seen the people who work for the auction pressure wash engines before they go through so I can't say if its harmful or not 100%. I wouldn't chance my car on it though.

Others have suggested spraying on Simple Green. I am going to Wal-Mart tomorrow to get some and try it!

i sprayed my engine one time and ill never do it again. afterward i drove to the gas station to get a pack of smokes and my car felt like it was running on 2 cylinders, sputtering, bucking, making noises. to say the least i about to $hit my pants. i let the car idle for about 30 minutes and what ever had water in it dried up and the car ran fine. i would not suggest spraying water on your engine.

I used to work at a detial shop and this what we did:
While the car is running soak, the entire engine compartment down with a degreaser first.

Then rinse entire compartment off with a pressure washer.

Let engine continue to run and dry off (you can use an air gun to dry off any electrical components if your concerned about them).

Turn off engine and spray all the plastic and rubber with a dressing (like armor all or any other shine product).

This is the quickest and one of the best ways and the entire engine compartment looks spotless.

Never had any problems that didn't go away after being dry.

I even do this on my motorcycle.
