Any suggestions on how to clean underneath the hood? I wanna get some road grim and dust off of my engine but I am unsure the best way so that I can get a nice shine without hurting anything! Thanks for the suggestions!!!

I treat my painted inside of my engine bay just like the outside. It gets the wax & treatments too.Dont forget to take the bag off the cone before starting! Saw someone didnt do that in here once.... Happy New Year..Brent
I cover the air filter with a bag or better yet, clean the air filter and put a bag over the tube and wash the engine while the air filter dries. After I cover the filter (or opening for the filter) I hose the engine bay down with my trusty garden hose, being careful not to get too much on the alternator. Afterwards I spray my own special mixture of Dawn and tap water all over everything except the alternator using a plastic spray bottle. (1 parts Dawn dish soap, 5 parts water) I let that set for about 5 minutes and let it do its business, then hose it all down a final time all the while being careful to avoid the alternator (for the most part).
You can't keep EVERY dab of water out of there if you use a hose unless you bag the alternator in which case you'll have a beautifully clean engine bay with a filthy alternator in the middle of it.

There was a lengthy discussion on this in the Show and Shine forum. The biggest thing is not to get the COP's wet. The F-150 is notorious for failed coils after being doused with water. If your engine bay isn't too bad, I'd suggest a using a rag and a brush. It's much safer, and while it may take longer, gives better results. There are those that claim they have pressure washed their engines weekly since they first got behind the wheel with no problems. Personally, I wouldn't risk it.

OK, so I've added a few things to it. Check my Profile - too many to list here.
Yeah I have to clean also.I had the dealer do it and they sprayed some greasy crap all over the engine and I want it off.Simple green is a good way to go and Ive nevver covered an alt before.I spray the crap out of it too.But I let it dry for a couple hours with the hood up also.Dont take my advice tho.
Could you spray Simple Green on the alt??? or would it hurt?
I've heard some people claim that Simple Green can be corrosive. I haven't been able to verify that, however. I would stick to your average every-day engine de-greaser. Plain old car wash in a bucket will go a long way.
