What are the risks associated with having your License Plate visible in photos? I can't get rid of mine and i see some other members who show their plates. Is this gonna be a problem to have my plates showing at all?
I am not sure why people block theirs out unless they're worried someone involved with law enforcement is going to look up their address and get it into the wrong hands etc... but many can see mine on any given day while I am driving... so I am not worried... I have nothing to hide
If you would like yours taken out - I'd be more than happy to do that... shoot me an email!

I used to block out my plates but most of the time I don't now. These days due to privacy laws the average person can't go to the DMV with the plate and find out info about the owner or an address. Even having a VIN isn't as easy as it used to be. I'm not saying it can't be done but most people don't have the resources and clearance available to them to run vehicle info.
The only time I block out my plate is when I'm using the flash to take the photo. CT has reflective plates and if they reflect the flash in the angle of the photo they can ruin the rest of the pic. My Mustang has the antique ("Early American" as CT calls them) plates on it that have a white reflective background and they are VERY bright if the flash hits them. It looks cheezy but I have had to prop a piece of cardboard or paper over the plate for the pic. I have taken the plate off a few times too if I'm at home with my tools available.

Trying to find my father's 1973 Mustang Grande he bought brand new. 3F04F126773 last known registration and title was in New Jersey, 1982.
I too stopped blocking my plate, heck I even had a thread on the new personalized plate LOL. There are stupid people out there, so unless you have something to hide it should not be an issue.

If you are taking pictures of your own car then there should be no issue but if there are other cars in the shot then I do believe there might be privacy laws that prohibit you from "publishing" them without the owners consent. Not 100% sure but just my 2 cents.
