why does the read new posts stop at 80 posts?

When you click on new posts (under recent) you only get 80 threads. That's like 2 hrs on this forum. Other forums will go up to 500.

That was something that was done to improve site performance when we were having database issues.
When it's been satisfied that those issues were taken care of, the number of threads may be increased but it's up to the website owner.

basically anything bigger takes up too much RAM on the server to generate the results. 80 is sufficient to most needs of people. Like yesterday i was posting on unanswered threads all night and it goes to the last 80 threads not replied to and it took me back 4 weeks. So i replied to the 4 week old threads, if it generated 500 hits, it would have been a lot slower to generate the results and hence slowed the site down.

There are WAY less unanswered posts than new posts. New posts will only take you back 2hrs. Maybe this is on a slow server or something, because most sites don't seem to have a problem with a 500 thread limit.

Have you guys thought about removing the recent thread thing that pops up on every page? That will run a query on every single page refresh and present intense server load.
