I've heard of rumors that somebody wants to open a drag strip here in Jax. Does anybody know anything?

Raised in Riverside now in south Mandarin. Used to race at Thunderbolt Dragway out in OP in the late 60s, Gator Dragway at Pecan Park during the same period. It was a 1/4 mile strip back then and the shutdown area was on the paved circle track. Thunderbolt was 1/4 mile, too. It was an old WW II landing strip. The racing was at night and it was dark as Hell out there. Now it's a subdivision.

Upgrade the old jax raceways would be the way to go. Re-open it with better management.

Not a chance on the old property, I think that it was rezoned by the city. One of those community complaint deals and a sympathetic zoning comittee.
