Default Bill of Sale for Car Purchased in Georgia

I just purchased a 1969 Mustang Coupe here in Texas and all the previous owner had was a bill of sale, no title. He purchased the car while stationed at Ft. Benning , later drove it to Texas (Fort Hood). He was told by salesman (and provided with letter) that a bill of sale was all he needed to sell the car if he wanted to in the furture.

Is it true that when older cars are purchased in Georgia that a title is not transfered

Thanks

yes
i think its 1985 and below. bill of sale only is needed

once you have that, in another state ( or GA ) you can go to small claims court by your self for a title.

thats how my 77 TA was bought to the guy before me. bill of sale only.

then to me bill of sale.

now that i live in ohio all i gotta do is go to court with the signed document ( on the back of a pizza flyer ) and get a title!

Thanks, that jives with what this guy told me...That he purchased car in Georgia, paid it off and the car dealer provided him with a bill of sale. I have a bill of sale form him now. And I looked it up on the Texas DMV site and in Texas apparently you have to apply for a bonded Title blah blah blah...This makes me feel better though about my purchase. This car is baaaad like 1970 good bad---super bad

if the BOS is signed by u and him
call your local DMV

maybe they can handle it there, with the proper fees ofcorse.

in ohio you jsut got to do small claims court by ur self. they look at bill of sale, make sure its not stolen adn your good to go!
