Hey, Tony. Welcome to the site. I also live in Loudon (don't want to be any more specific than that or give my real name on a website - I know from experience that identity theft is real). What color is your GT? Is it a vert or coupe? We may have seen each other out and about. As far as I know, there is only one other yellow Mustang - an 01 GT - in Loudon and a couple of yellows in Lenoir City (although I think they are V6s), so if you are in the area, my car is kind of hard to miss. Mine's more a daily driver and I've only had it a couple of months. I'm not that interested in drag racing, although I do intend to eventually make it to a 'test and tune' night somewhere, just out of curiousity. My plans lean more toward eventual (as in when I have the $$$) suspension and handling upgrades before I start the minor horsepower upgrades I have planned. I hope to have this car for many years, so it will be a work in progress and if it takes several years to complete, that's fine with me. I'm really just enjoying the feeling of having a yellow Mustang, which is a car I've always wanted. Have you heard anything about a drag strip along with a dirt track in Sweetwater? What drag strips do you use around here and which do you think is the best for a 'run what you brung' night? I didn't even realize there was any autocross in our area - where do you go for that?
Some other guys on AFM and I are trying to plan a trip on the Dragon sometime in the next couple of months. I'm going to put up a post about it on this forum, if you are interested. We're still kind of in the planning stages.
All information about local area autocrossing can be found in the www.etrscca.org link. Anything you could every want to know. Our first event is on March 5th at Adesa Auto Auction in Lenoir City. The event is a fund raiser for the Cander Ranch, so everyone's particpation is greatly appreciated. Follow this link for all necessary info: http://www.highperformancetoys.com/f...ead.php?t=6044
You do not have to run/race your car, you can come and watch (for free!) and just have some hamburgers/hotdogs/chips/drink to help us out!
As for drag racing, I like to go to Crossville Dragway ( www.i40dragway.com ) to just go have some fun. I'ts appx. a 45-50 minute drive from my house here in Loudon.
I just have an white 02 Mustang GT 5spd, nothin' fancy or special. Just a car to have fun with. About the only thing that distinguises mine from another is the wingless trunk lid, and some side exhaust.
I definitely haven't seen you around. I would have remembered the deleted spoiler and the side exhaust. I will keep an eye open, though. I may well try and make it to the autocross event in L.C. I probably won't run, as I have exactly zero experience in that area, but would like to know more about it. My hunch is that I would really be more interested in autocross than drag racing.
I have heard from a friend of mine that Crossville is a good place to go for 'test and tune' night. Thanks for the info!
Also, I noticed the other day that there is apparently a performance shop at Eaton's Crossroads, near the National Guard armory as you go toward Kingston. Can't remember the name of it, but it's next door to the new bait shop. It was closed when I passed by there and I haven't had a chance to stop in there, yet. I haven't seen or heard any advertisement, either. Have you heard anything about it?
Yup. The name is the shop is BIG TIME I believe. I've bought a couple little things there, and he fills my nitrous bottles on occaision. Real nice guy, and keeps some USED parts in stock for good prices.
He's mainly a GM guy, that is/was into drag racing. Nice little place to go browse if you're in the area.
Let me Chime in a Welcome as well. I am up in Clinton... have a yellow 05.
Well, I am also in on the TOTD run and might attend with JB to the autocross as I would like to learn more about it as well. I to have suspension Mods in the plans for the future, but I went with Long Tube headers as my first major mod. That lovely V8 sound cant be replaced by anything, and I want my car to sound mean and nasty one day.
Hang around here... we all need to get together sometime for a cook out and some BSing.

I'm in Lenoir City. 2003 Cobra, all the usual stuff.
The only newer Cobra I have seen in L.C. was white. We parked next to it at Metro Ford (or whatever they are calling that now) a couple of months back. I think the owner was there for a part and I wasn't in my Mustang. That wouldn't have been you, would it? At any rate, being a Cobra, it has to be a nice ride. Welcome!
That wasn't me. Mine is the faster black color. I have had it to Metro for some minor warranty stuff because a have a friend in service who overlooks items which put SVT's out of warranty. You would probably hear me before you would see me anyway. I have an Uncatted UPR X pipe going into MAC 2.5's . The blower sings like a Valkeryie, the pipes rumber like a NASCAR and at 6 grand nobody can hear the passenger scream. Currently there is a very nice 96-98 Cobra up on a car lift at Schuberts. I looked her over quickly in the rain yesterday and at a glimpse she looked very nice despite being the slower white color. He also had a black SVT focus on the lot if someone were needing a daily driver.

I noticed that one, but didn't get close enough to see it was a Cobra. I did stop and look at the yellow Boss 5.4 truck they had there for a while. I haven't heard a lot about those trucks, but it looked good. It would have looked really nice parked at my house next to my yellow GT!
Yeah that Boss truck would have looked cool beside your stang. The white cobra looks very clean and it's the real deal. I just don't have the cash or really need another cobra right now. I have been looking for a project though. I looked over a buddies old 89 LX notch and really wanted that nasty beeeyatch a couple of years ago but time has not done it any good. I almost cried seeing how neglected and abused it was. He'll be lucky to get 750 out of it. Actually he would be better to part out what's left.

There was a red (faded red) 1979 Mustang at Greene's as of a couple of weeks ago. At the least, it needs cosmetic work and I have no idea what shape it is in mechanically. It was an unrestored 'project' car. They were asking $1,800, I believe. Speaking of Greene's, have you seen the Yellow 1970 Mach 1 that is parked there? It looks much rougher up close than passing by on the street. Also, the sheet in the window lists it as a 1970 Mustang fastback, so I am not sure if it is really a Mach 1 or a clone. As I said, it looks really cool from a few feet away, but up close you notice some bad bondo work and at least one of the superwide rear tires is rough, as if it is rubbing somewhere. Still, as yellow '70 Mach 1s are my idea of the ultimate look for a Mustang, it was fun to stop and look at it and take a picture with my camera phone to eventually use as part of a yellow Mustang screen saver I want to do. They also have a yellow convertible Mustang that looks to be about a 65 or 66. As of a few months ago, there was an old Shelby inside the showroom.
Yeah, I've seen the Mach(?) in front of Greene's and agree that it is rough up close. It is probably a clone as well because if it was a real Mach he would have said as much. The 70 model was identifiable as a Mach by the VIN, 69's (my favorite ) are not. Speaking of yellow 69 machs, there was one at that classic car shop on old broadway near Louies pizza joint. Last time I saw it, it was at the place you can see across from state tech (I-40) (liberty street). It is a minty dream car, yellow with matte black hood, shaker etc. I saw a ragged out 73 Mach in Oak Ridge in front of a Mexican restaurant but it was in the same shape as my buddies LX. I'm not necessarily wanting a mustang. Mustangs bring higher prices in worst shape than many brand X products. I've actually been looking at 83-88 Monte Carlo SS's. They are V-8 , RWD, comfortable rides, and junk yards are full of chevy small block parts. As an added benefit, my best friend is Mr. Goodwrench (works for Beaty). I can get genuine GM parts at dealer cost and have access to his tools and expertise.

Mmmmm....Louis. I like their steak and spaghetti plate. I'll have to look for that Mach the next time I am up that way, and maybe take a quick trip on over across Black Oak Ridge and visit the shop you were telling me about.
My wife might not like that, but she loves Louis, so maybe I can even con her into going.
Hate to admit it on the Mustang boards, but I always liked those '80s Monte SS's myself - especially in black with red trim, nice wheels and a good tint job. There was something 'clean' about the style that made me think of the early '70s Chevys. I like them much better than the newer ones. Would rather have a Mustang, but would definitely not mind putting one of those in the 'stable' next to it. Wouldn't mind an automatic to use as a laid-back cruiser with some power - one my wife could drive. I think there is a pretty nice one (silver with red, I think) on 11 on the right as you leave L.C. but before you get to Highland Park. I doubt it is for sale, though. It is in with a group of other cars, all under 'carport' type covers. If it is for sale, it looks like it might be in too good a shape to be a project car. I don't think any of those cars are ever moved. They seem to be building a layer of dust, but all look to be in good shape. Looks to me like someone has a pretty nice collection of cars. A few months back, there was a white one for sale in Loudon - in front of that new garage, near the old Co-Op and the Mexican grocery (El Toucan). I think maybe I saw a couple of others there that weren't pulled forward and didn't have 'for sale' on them. There are a couple of car dealers in Sweetwater that seem to sometimes have deals on 'older' (80s and 90s) cars. Most of the time, they look to be in good enough shape for a project car. I'll keep an eye out, if you want.
