I went up there and came back on Saturday, got the engine and
trans. This thing is shaping up quicker than I thought and turns out will probably not need the engine or the
trans replaced... but it never hurts to have a spare so I'll freshen this engine, port-match the head, and put a roller valvetrain in it - then crate it up and wait. Turns out it drives really nice and runs fine for what it is, so I could drive it up there if need be.
I'll find Arnold's in the phone book and ask about replacing the top.
