Default 2002 Mustang O2 Analyzer Kit for passing Texas State Inspection

Hello,

I have a 2002 Mustang with aftermarket exhaust pipes and I do not have the catalytic convertors installed which is causing my check engine light to stay on and my local state inspector will not even consider an inspection till I can clear the check engine light.
He told me today there is an $88.00 kit that I can hook up/wire to my O2 Anayzers that would fake out the check engine light and clear it.
Is anyone familiar with a parts house that would sell the kit I need?
I still have my original pipes/cat conv./mufflers.

Thanks in advance

I did own a 66 sunflower yellow 289 ci hardtop and sold it back in 1999.

Dave

Hiya and welcome. Glad you're here.
I know of the part you're talking about but I can't for the life of me can remember where I saw them. Hopefully someone else can give you a clue where to find them.

They're called MIL eliminators (Malfunction Indiciator Lamp).

Here is a link for one site http://www.thepartsbin.com/catalog/p...eliminator_set

You can also run a search for MIL eliminator on google and find a lot more to do a price comparison.

I have seen them on e-bay for $70 if you want plug and play. (Proper plug connectors) I have also seen some for $7 but they look like you have to cut the wires and splice them in yourself. If you decide to try those let me know cause I have the same situation. From my understanding there are two sensors and the second one that is supposed to be past the convertor is supposed to have a different reading(voltage) then the first one so you know the cat is working. I believe it is some sort of resistor that you are splicing in to fool the computer into thinking there is a cat in between the sensors.
