I may not be seeing this, if it already exists.

how about a search function to find stangers in your hometown or surrounding areas?
because, if a stanger will be in another city and wants to meet up with other AFM'rs, it would be a great way to extend your social network on this site.
not to mention finding locals easier to hang out with on the weekend or have a BBQ and invite some peeps over.

That is a great idea. I think we can implement it at the state/province level but maybe harder to do at the city/town/region level. I have just added it to our forums to do list. Now that does'nt mean we will have it implemented tomorrow but it does mean we will do it as we work through our to do list.

That IS a good idea. I can see why it couldn't get any more narrower than the state... too many cities. At least with the state category you can manage that search.

I was thinking you could do a search by city because most people list their city in their profile. now, I am not much into programming, but I would think there would be a way to search and find that particular entry and see who is in your home town or the city you will be in.

Think you are exactly right and that was how I was kind of seeing it working as well. This was one of the reasons behind having members to fill in their City/Town/Region. From a member's profile page, members list page and possibly from within a members post, the following three field values would be hot links which when clicked on would do a member search based on the value clicked on:

City/Town/Region
State/Prov
Country

Is that kind of what you were thing as well?
