Default bassani catted x pipe flutter?

ok guys i really need sum help/and your opinions..
i bought my 2004 cobra back in october..the only add ones are slotted and drilled rotors, cold air intake, and a borla cat back system.everything is bone stock, and it has a rear set of nittos555,inwhich all this was on the car when i bought it..since i didnt have the money at the time for a x-pipe, i removed 2 of the stock cats right before the stock h pipe, i cut out sum 2" pipe and welded them into the place where i removed the orginal cats,it gave me more sound and i was happy,2 weeks ago i was able to order my bassani catted x-pipe,which i thought was cool because it gave me the option of removing the bassani cats..the other night i installed the xpipe, turned on the car and the car was actually now quiet,i was like ok cool, ill jus unbolt the cats and put the straight piping,,i wanted noise more than anything..so i did that switch started the car and it sounded aggresive!!i loved it..ive been drivin it for 2 days now,and under a load i can hear this fluttering sound coming exactly from the xpipe,,i have no exhaust leaks..that noise drives me crazy when i jump on it and those rpms are up..cruising it sounds good..i was wondering if that noise was normal but to me it sounds akward..ive been thinking of takin it off but, i'd like to see what u guys think

Hiya, welcome to the site.
That seems to be the normal X pipe sound, it has a tinka tinka pinging rasp at times when you rev it up. It happens on all models, Cobra Terminator or old 5.0 Fox.

thank you for the fast reply,ok i forgot to add one thing..my buddy owns a 03 cobra..same xpipe but with a slp cat back system..i called him up and told him what was going on..we took both cars out for a spin and his car did not make that noise..he thought i might have a exhaust leak..todai i went ahead put it on the lift re tighten the clamps.i started it up,raised the car back up and checked for leaks..everything was good..took it out for a spin and the noise was still ther..im jus lost now,the videos i hear on youtube from the inside of the cars, dont make this noise,,i highly doubt this xpipe is defective..bassani knows ther stuff

I hate the new multi-clamp, multi-segment bassani x pipe design for the SN95 and S197. I had this same fluttery racket problem under load, from the bassani catted x on my 2006 GT. The noise isn't coming from leaks, it comes from (at least on mine) the overlap of the pipes when they are inserted together and then clamped. When you torque the clamps tight, the inside pipe slightly deforms and creates a space between the smaller inserted pipe and the inside of the larger pipe sleeve. Then when you get on the throttle, the pipes buzz against one another at those joints. What a racket, just sounds like an exhaust leak but its the pipes making a metallic tapping/rattling that sucks and sounds horrible.

Rather than welding the whole thing, I ripped it off the car and put on a one-piece magnaflow trufit catted x pipe. No more stupid noise when I get on the throttle now. Less drone, meaner growl, and just the smooth sound of my bassani mufflers.

Cheers

Forgot to add....the more frustrated you get and tighter you torque the band clamps trying to stop the "leaking noise", the more it will rattle/flutter...
