Hey guys im new to this site.... i have a 97 svt cobra with just a few mods.... i do all my own work on it at my buddies shop. but I have a couple of buddies that i role with who are gm guys... one has a stock 02 z28 auto, and the other has a stock 02 ws6 manual... the kid with the ws6 is pretty new to stick but he want to race... do you think i have a chance against the ls1.... mind you all i have is a steeda tri-ax short through, cold air, new plugs, and wires, and pretty quick with my shifts.
Well those LS1's are no joke even in stock form. Your pretty stockish so you will get beat. A x-pipe/ catback, Some DR's and a custom tune. Then it would be pretty close race. If you out drive him you probably will beat him. if you want to seal the deal buy a 75 shot of nitrous.
I use to drive a 2000 Trans Am, it was quite a bit faster than my 97 Cobra is. You need a set of gears to keep it close off the line but you will get pulled hard on the upper end. The sn195 just isn't very fast without mods.
Yeah the ws6 will most likely get you, but if he cant drive it i doubt he'll beat you, thats not a good car to learn on haha. But anyways, with just gears and intake plus what you already got, you would def be able to hang.
cool thanx guys.... im actually installing a new set of 3.73 gears within the next month and i have a down payment put on my buddies cobra rims with nitto 555rs on them so ill give it a go then... but i did race him before from a roll from 35-90 and we were like dead even.... so will see what happens
how about: knn intake,long tubes,h pipe,3.73s,flowmasters 40s,short throw?recently bought a cobra but had no chance to race ls1 yet.will it beat ls1?
ok.... for one nice car..... what color? also i would have to say yes you would be able to beat an ls1 or atleast give him a good run.... 3.73s are a very nice choice in gearing to get you a good jump off the line...pretty agressive gears, also knn intake and the long tubes are good because 32 valve engines are ment to breath and youve got that down... you should get some drag radials... like nitto 555rs
i had an 01 cobra with cold air intake custom tune catback and x pipe. I beat couple stock Ls1. Now with my 03 theres no match i spin from 1th to 3th and still kill the Ls1 and Ls2. get a tune and xpipe catback cold air intake and sum gears, i seen gts with 410 walk all over Lt1 and Ls1
