I did quite a bit of searching and im not surprised that i couldn't find anything on driving a cobra in the winter. I'm expecting to get alot of hell no's and wtf are you thinking, but i'm seriously considering buying a termi and because im a college student without the space to have two cars, i would be driving this ***** in michigan winters. Now i would get some blizzaks and put a couple hundred pounds in the trunk and really on campus i never NEED to drive, if it's bad ill call one of the campus cabs...so i was thinking, really in 1-2 inches of snow i can't see the cobra with irs, lsd, and the weight it has being that horrible if you have 200 lbs of sand in the trunk and great snow tires...with the bpv you really wont get into boost if you don't want to right? my buddy drives his 06 gto all year and puts snows on and weight in the trunk and he can drive in most weather with no problems. I can't see the cobra being that much worse..? what do you guys think? would it be even coniderable? I have quite a bit of winter driving experience with rwd too...
i dont think it would be a problem driving it in the winter, with the right tires and some weight in the trunk, i would put more than 200 tho, i think you should be fine as long as you take it easy. on the other hand if it was me, no way i would, first of all the minute that snow hits that car the value drops so much. road salt sucks, and it will put a toll on your car. + its a cobra which gives you even more reason not to drive it in the snow. if you HAVE to drive it in the snow, then i guess you could. but try and store it somwhere, its not realy exspensive. buy a junker for the winter you dont want to do that to a cobra, its just not right.
if u do drive it tho...when the roads get slick, its going to be hard to handle but you should be okay, jus drive smart.
Yea i was looking at sti's and stuff because of the winter, but i just can't bring myself to buy one. I need muscle. I'm not really planning on driving it much at all in the snow, mostly under a car cover until the roads are dry, but i just may have to drive it a few times a year in the snow if something important comes up. thanks for your input
yea no problem, hope i offered some kind of help.
you shold be fine jus driving it occasionaly. im not sure if this would hapen or not but just watch for when the snow starts to melt that no moisture gets up under the cover, not sure if that could happen but if it does, prolly isnt good if moisture is constantly sitting on the paint. hope everything goes good tho.
You should be fine with snow tires and some weight. I have driven a few Mustangs in the the snow. You just have to take it very easy on the gas when you start off. 1 or 2 inches of snow is no big deal, it's when you get to half a foot of snow or more when it is a little crazy. Starting off from a dead stop is the worst in snow. Once you are going, it's no problem as long as you keep a light touch on the gas. Sometimes starting off in 2nd will help if the snow is deep to keep traction.
If it is a manual, it's a heck of a lot easier in the snow.
Like the poster mentioned above, when the salt melts the snow and the temp goes above freezing, get that stuff off your car. It's the water/salt combination when it gets above freezing that is a rust producer. I usually run it through an undercarriage car wash during that time.

I do not drive my Cobra during the winter months. I think with dedicated winter tires and weight in the trunk you should be O.K. Just stay out of boost!
Keep us up to date with the Cobra purchase.

Hey, who are you, I go to cmu as well. I had my gt up here for about a month before i gave up and garaged it. I did have a 4.10 gear tho, and even when there was half an inch of snow a few months ago, the car barely moved. I did have racing tires though, and no weight in the back. I going to get a 94 or 95 cobra in about a month once i sell my gt and i will like to know what people say about driving it, since I will be installing a turbo on it once we are done in the beginning of may. Do u have a mustang up here now?

Do Not I've a 1996 SVT Mustang Cobra I Don't Drive it at All From Nov. 1st till April 1st. For 1-thing the Salt, 2nd the Power it has it goes Every where But where you going. Harder to Control.
I just use BF Goodrich P245/45ZR @17" Tire's
I wouldnt do it! Just like "RedWomper" said buy a junker. Rent a garage in the winter. Being in collage, you might not have the extra money on hand, Then I would park it somewhere with a all weather tarp on the top and bottom of the car and store it. I live in wisconsin I know what you go through in the winter!!!!! Once salt hit's that car say, "HELLO RUST"!!
