They are capable of decent horsepower from the factory. 415hp in a cobalt is respectable.

I think the results would have differed had it been an 03-04 cobra... I'm pretty sure the Cobalt would not have a chance, specially if you spent an extra $2,500 to get supercharger pulley, exhaust, air kit, and a tune. Then you would be talking about a 500rwhp car vs _____ (you fill in the blank, and it doesn't really matter! ).

btw my friends brother had a 03 srt4 with 420 whp and a 03 cobra with 456 rwhp Lets just say that srt4 was his weekend racer!

I don't really understand the craze behind these front wheel drive cars. Good for mileage and traction generally, though usually not the best for racing, specially drifting lol. I understand you can rebuild the motors and up the turbos but keep in mind you're still driving a Dodge Neon... If you're going to spend all that money and you still want a Ricer, buy an STI or an EVO.

Lol, before i owned my Mustang I've always loved modded Stangs mainly my Dream car the 03/04 SVT Cobra But when i would look at stock specs on any mustang other than saleens and Cobras I was ashamed. Its pretty bad that a V8 5.0 liter can only produce 215HP and the 4.6 215 and newer 4.6 only 260HP. So i hated when i seen stock stangs with only exhaust. They make 4 cyls come with way more power than the huge 8 cyls its pretty embarrassing. The K20 Honda Motor makes 240 or 220 HP All motor 2.2L. So yea I'd rather be in a 4cyl smoking the v8 and laughing hard at the gas the other guy wasted lol.


Just my opinion, This is why my 5.0 is in my garage until it puts down at least 350HP or more i do not wanna get punkd by a 4 cyl. i already got shut up fastly by a Corvette lol.





Anyways i Raced a SS/SC Cobalt a while back in my 94 5.0 modded and I took him pretty bad, 0 to 60MMPH he was a good 3 cars back. it was nice hearing that S/C whining tho!
