Default 1996 Cobra Cooling Issues

Hello - hoping that someone here has a little insight that my help me out. I have a 2006 Mustang Cobra with no real mods (Off road H Pipe, Flowmasters) and it runs hot nearly all the time when the temp outside gets above say 75....and since I live in the south that is more months than not! I heard there was a cooling mod kit that Ford put out or perhaps its aftermarket. Can anyone send me to a site or provide a suggestion or two as to what I can do here? Thanks in advance for your help.

do you have full, freash coolent? had a raditor flush lateley?? have you checked the fan?also if you have ever changed the water pump, you almost need a oem ford part to do the job if its ever been changed, or the fins on the water pump could be worn. go down to a 180f themastat, see if that helps before going into it deep.

I have a 98 Cobra SVT. Just finished spending over a grand on cooling issues. First thing that happened was coolant spilled all over the road. My son took it to the first place he found. They replace belts, pulleys and the thermostat. He took it home, still hot. Took it back they said water pump. Had someone else install that. Still running hot. Brought the car home to Dallas, another mechanic said sensor. Had that replaced. Still running hot. Went to another mechanic. He replaced two more sensors and the radiator cap. Still hot. Finally took the thermostat out to find the first shop had put the wrong one in. I went to the Ford website and for my make and model of Cobra, the oem is a 190 thermostat. The one that was in there was much smaller, I'm presuming a 180. So it was an expensive lesson learned. If I were you, the thermostat is the first thing I would check. To make sure the correct one is in there.

If it had a 180 in it would have allowed the car to cool a bit faster. The 180 opens for the coolent at a lower temp. I'd stay with the 180. I have t 190 in mine and I'm going with the 180 soon!
