hey guys, i'm looking into maybe getting a new Mustang after losing my classic, preferrably an 03-04. I would love to find a Cobra but some of the prices people are asking are killing me being a college student and would love to have something fun to drive again with decent mileage. My question is what do you think would be cheaper, buy a cobra, or get a GT for a little cheaper and build up the bottom end of the engine to handle a supercharger?

You could get a GT and put a supercharger on with a stock bottom end just as long as ya dont run too much boost and have a safe tune to go along with it. This would be cheaper than buying a 03 cobra and would end up being faster.

you should look into the mach 1. they are going pretty cheap and they have the 4 valve 4.6 lower suspension from the factory and really get up and move. the seats kick ass and you have to love that shacker sticking up threw the hood. i have a 04 competition orange mach 1 and love it.
The Mach 1 makes sense in your case. It's a compromise between the GT and the Cobra. The Mach 1 is a great car with great hp/tq #'s between the GT and Cobra. Good Luck

A GT with a low boost supercharger would be faster than a Terminator? I think not! Maybe a stock Terminator, but for only a few bucks the Terminator would kill the wannabe GT.

Ive gotten away from a couple diff stock terminators very easily. The last one i raced to about 60mph in a 35mph zone had cai and exhaust and it was nose to nose. And by the way, my car is not a wannabe cobra, i making it to kill a cobra. If i wanted one, i would have traded in my car for one wayy before i started modding it.

Well i know you say the mach 1 would be a good choice for me, but i'm fairly new to these newer model cars and not too sure what all after market parts are available for the Mach 1 granted they do look pretty damn sweet. I've seen so many bad cobras with a kenne bell in them which was what i wanted to do either with a GT or Cobra and I think if i'm gonna run a supercharger i'll probably want to be running it with a higher boost if i can even if that means i need to swap out the rotating assembly in a GT.

No matter which direction you take, it's going to cost. Buying a GT and going through the motor. $$$$$ Buying a Mach 1 and putting a pro charger on it. $$$$$ Take the money and buy what you really want. An 03 or 04 Cobra. You will love it, And you will be glad you did. If you are looking for a Mach 1, their is one for sale here in my home town for, I believe 19 to 20 thousand. Under 4,000 miles and it is blue. I can't remember at this time what the color blue is called. If I had the money I would buy it. Good luck in your decision.

I love my Mach 1. They have the DOCH 4.6 like in the older Cobras, but they have an aluminium block (lighter) and different cams. Right now the Machs are really cheap, just check ebay. They are pretty fast, but if you want to supercharge then you will need to get new pistons atleast.
