I have always been wondering why you can not have Nitrous Bolt Turned ON when your on the street?

Because if you get in an accident the chances are higher it will cause a leak, which can lead to a fire, which could lead to an explosion, which will lead to death. Also some states do not allow a bottle in the car without the cap over the entire nozzle. This is to prevent the possibility of a unguided missle in the event of an accident.

Wow you nailed it on the head!!!
And I have a felling your car coverage wont give you a dime for your car if it was in a accident with the bottle in it!

Yea, I can see why they made it illegal. I was thinking along the same lines of what you guys posted. Thanks for the info.

Regardless of heat or any other means that could possiblily cause an explosion, this could be your results as well.

Nitrous itself is not flameable. But it enriches oxygen which is one of the three primary items needed for combustion. (Oxygen, Fuel, Heat.) So if you crack open your tank after and accident and a small fire or flame now becomes much more than what it would have been. Of course the link Cobrals1eater put up explains better than words why it is not a good idea.

i don't think a NOS bottle could do that. all nitrous bottles come with a pop off valve.

Pop off valve, blow down tube, etc, if your in an accident and any of those things happens, it'll just add to the flames. that's why they also tell you to mount it in the trunk and not in the interior where you sit. But...to me, you would have to be in a horrible front end accident to rip the lines (if it's turned on and flames present) or a horrible rear end accident to actually strike the bottle and some how damage it/ something somehow catching on fire..... I've had nitrous twice and was never scared or thought that I was in danger. i just recommend all the safety features and so on if you do get nitrous.
