Default which cobra to get 94/95 or 96-98?

I have been seeing a lot of cobras for sale lately and been wondering what cobra would be best to get. I know the 94/95 dont have as much hp as the 96-98 but arent they cheaper to mod? i like the 94-98 body style so i would most likely get any of those years. thanks for the input

very tough call. and im glad i dont have to make the decision. ive owned both body styles and honestly each one has what the other doesnt.

it depends tho, what do you plan on investing in? i would say the 94/95 has the most potential, but if you just want out of the box h/p then i would consider a 96/98

What do you plan on doing to the car?

H/C/I work? Or adding little bolt ons but leaving the motor stock. If that's so I'd go with the 96-98 cobra.

You'll wont lose with eather one. There all different in there own little ways (5.0 vs the 4.6)

If you can find a 96-98 cobra with low miles I would buy it and go with a head swap kit that would give you the better heads and intake from the 99-2004 cobra. This will really wake up those 32 valve cobra built before 99. It should be less than $2000, I think Anderson Ford Motorsport.com has this kit.

Of those choices I would prefer the 96-98. I think they are sexier and the aluminum mod motor would be my preference. That said, I also prefer brunettes but am not against other variations.

I agree they both look good but besides the dual air snouts weren't 96-98 cars equipped with the rear valence that said "cobra" as opposed to "mustang"? Other than the wheels I agree there was no difference. He asked which we preferred. For me, the hood and rear valence make a difference. The scoops on the 96-98 resemble the snouts on a real snake. Just my 2cents.

I dont have any cobra emblems on the car. So it's a plus for me when it say's mustang on the back!!!
God does it piss off the rice when they think it's just a normal mustang!!! (no offence to the 6er's out there)

I love the pushrods but the 96-98 Cobra's have more power and just a few things and your almost at 300rwhp. The 5.0 will need a few mods and will be more money to get at that point. Get a the 4V 4.6 with some 4.10's to get them in their powerband and your already set. Then get the others mods to boost the power.

I would go with the 4.6L I have a 1967 cougar that was a built 289 in it its making a little over 400hp and I love it. When I got my 1998 Cobra that 32V 4 cam monster just blows me away for it's size it makes all kinds of power! then if you add a SC hold on it's going to run like a scalded cat! just my .02

Get a 96-98. They already have 305HP vs I believe 240 in the 94-95. And parts should be pretty cheap for a car that is at least 11 years old, anyways.
