fairly new to this, bought a 1999 Cobra SVT last summer. while discussing the engine in it someone told me that all Cobras are in fact SVT's and have the same engines. My cobra says SVT on it, and I know I've seen Cobras without the SVT. can someone clear this up for me?

Real Cobras from 93 to 04 will all be SVT's (Special Vehicle Team)

I believe all the 1994 to 2003 "real" cobras came with the SVT badge on the trunk lid, it's possible you have seen Mustangs with cobras on them that aren't "real" or for some real Cobras to have had the badge removed for some reason...(paint etc), SVT provided special documents to the original owner and your car gets special treatment at authorized SVT Ford dealers should it require service, (they are supposed to detail the car at no cost)

Really? Is there any catch to that such as having to go there for regular service or anything. I do mostly all my own work, but if they wanna clean it for free I'll stop in

I heard that ford doesn't do the SVT dealerships anymore. Since they did away with SVT, somewhat.
I know they some what changed the name too. like Ford performance program or something like that, i'll have to look. But you can still call and get your SVT certificate for your Cobra, i did several months ago.

yes thats exactly what I need to do, if you don't mind me asking how much did that cost you? and did you just have to give them your vin # and such
