Default Lincoln Mark VIII swap into a 96 Mustang GT?

I know many of you guys say that getting an IRS setup from a Cobra and swapping it would be easier and painless but I wanted to see what you cobra guys think about it. If i could find a MK8 for decent price swap the suspension (+ finding the other parts I need to make it work) and engine it would be fairly expensive and give me decent 4V performance. What do you guys think about that idea?

If I was able to get a MK8 4V could I use my stock GT wiring harness with mods? Exhaust? I know I would need a different driveshaft.

What do you guys think?

Bad idea, first of all the IRS is not a direct bolt in...the Cobras have a wider stance to accomodate it...secondly, the engine upgrade would not net you much and would require tons of mods/expense...I'd recommend selling your car and buying a Cobra or a terminator Cobra if you could afford it...lots of great deal on them on Ebay...check it out...if you just love your car and want to go faster, get a supercharger or nitrous...

Actually I researched and found that the Mark 8 is actually wider than the SN95 mustang, doesnt mean I couldnt get the necessary parts to make it work. The engine is my major question bacause I know it will bolt it with the transmission and into my stang. The wiring is my question, I was told that the cobra (mark 8)wiring harness has 2 knock sensors when the gt doesnt. I know there are other things to consider but from what I understand they arent major. I want to keep my mustang, i love the terminator and the SN95 cobra mustangs but I would rather have mine perform like one.

Well the MK8 is a dog compared to the Cobra engine, it was tuned for about 280hp...at this point just get a supercharger, your 210hp can easily be 350hp with a good blower and tune (Saleens were built with them), trust me, you will be much happier...then if you ever sell your car you can take the blower off, sell it, and then the car and pretty much break even...

Nah i don't want to put a blower on my GT it has 111k on it and i know its not that much but i don't want to risk it. You are talking something thats 3-5k to do not to mention to keep the engine cool i need to do other measures rather than keeping the cooling system stock not to mention other parts as well. I like the 4v idea i need more info on that to base my decision on.

here is everything i know the markviii motor takes dual fuel lines
you have to replace the oil pan with one of a gt bcuz of the oil resivour
the header on the driver side needs to be modded so its closer to the motor bcuz itl not go in bcuz of the steering column
also if you have a vacuum booster it has to be changed to a hydrolic brake booster
and i know on a 99+ you need to change all of the interior wire harness that goes to guages and fuel system wireing thier not adaptable
and a general information make sure you wont trip the security on the ecu or else you gotta get it flashed
you will also wanna upgrade the cooling system with the markviii it cools better then the mustang the irs system is really nice on the mark viii it doesnt have trac lock but you can change the internals with the one of a t bird the pumkin of a markviii is aluminum its lighter than the mustang that made of cast iron
and the drive shaft is all aluminum on the markviii and can be modded to replace the steel driveshaft in your mustang
if you want to build on the motor ill would replace the stock crank thats a 6 bolt to a real cobra 8 bolt
and replace the rods and pistons the pistons are Hypereutectic Cast witch is cast and silicon mix to so the piston hugs the cylander better not good for forced induction more than 8psi
i would get a 93-95 mark viii bcuz the intake is less restrictive
email me if you decide to do the project and keep me informed with every mod u had to do buz im trying to figure out how to put one in a 03 and i need to know what 95 mustang parts i would need

the mark viii is a fast car tough, the rear suspension wont fit.your better off finding a front ended terminator in salvage yard instead.and get the rear suspension.the only difference from the cobra off the same year is the intake and the cams.(except from the 03,04 terminator engine wise talking).

i am talking off using the long block off a mark, the other necessary parts need to be taken from the original car and a donor cobra,so is a pita, but if you can get one really easy is a sure bet.
