Hello, currently i own a v6 Stang, BUT today i seen a 1999 Mustang SVT Cobra for sale with only 76 000 kms... and it's only listed at $4,200!!! at first i was like holy @#$% i want this car! but after doing some research i learned that there was a recall on the car when it first came out because it wasn't putting out the full claimed horsepower.. now the guy selling it said it did get fixed and everything is the way it's supposed to be.. if thats the case than its an amazing deal.. can some one who owns a 1999 Cobra or has owned one give me some help..Why on earth would he only ask $4,200 for it?? is that year of Cobra just not the car it's advertised to be?

At the very least I'd ask the guy if I could take it to a real mechanic and get it on a rack. Sounds like something's about to go or already has. Check out the frame for straightness and look at front and rear bumper supports for damage. Check serial numbers, maybe it's a fake Cobra.

If it sounds too good to be true...... Run a carfax and see if it's a salvage. A 99 should be at least 9k in good condition. Usually see them for around 12k here.

thats what i think too, it could be a fake.. if it is the guy did a great job at making a clone, either it's a fake, something is wrong with it, or the guy just doesn't know what he has and what the car is worth

If he went to the trouble to make a clone, it still needs to have that DOHC engine in it. If you don't see huge heads ,it's not a Cobra. It's unlikely he doesn't know what he has since he knows about the fix. I'm skeptical. Maybe he posted wrong and he wants 14200?

It's possible, in this economy there are all kinds of deals, I recently saw a 96 Cobra with a vortech supercharger and full supporting mods on it sell for $6500 on Ebay

A way to tell if it's a clone? check the air bag on the steering wheel, if it says Cobra Legit, if it says Mustang something would be fishy! You can also look at the paint code on the door jamb, there's only 4 for Cobras!
Well the 4v is a give away, the 13" rotors and dual piston calipers on the front is another. The IRS in the rear is something that a cloner might not switch. $4200 is super low. I would be very suspicious. 76000km is only 47224 miles. I don't think anyones picked up on that yet. 47k mile Cobra for $4200. No way on earth unless something major is up. I don't care how much he needs money. It would be sold in like 2 seconds if it was legit.

**I'd do like everyone said. A clean 94-95 can still run you 8 to 10 grand now adays. Eather the car is a clone or it's been beaten to hell. You can do a lot of damage in 7x,xxx miles!!!

My friend didnt have the 13" rotors in the front on his 99. And it came right from the dealer he was told ford did it to save on cost.

Sorry for the late reply, ya i emailed the guy with the ad, it was on auto trader.ca which is why i thought it would be legit.. however i'm pretty sure it was just a scam or a fake, when i emailed him asking if it actually was a Cobra and when i told him i would know if it was a Cobra or not and that he couldn't fool me.. his reply was that the car was in good condition and he never said Cobra at all he just said Ford Mustang when he was talking about the car.. he also said he was selling it because he just went through a divorce and needed the money badly. So i'm pretty sure it's a fake, also i asked if i could phone him and talk about it, he said the phone company cut his phone line off LOL so it could just be a scam too, sounds like it to me at least.
