I watched this video and I just have a hard time believing that this Mercedes kept beating this modded 03 Cobra, have a look but I call foul

Modded 03 Cobra 452 RWHP vs. a stock E55 with 469 hp at the flywheel. www.car-stats.com says a stock 03 E55 AMG runs a 12.7 in the 1/4 mile. Any opinions?

If you noticed... The cobra has way more top end. I think with a better driver the cobra would have come out on top from the beginning to the end.

I just found it odd that they showed all real video of the 03 Cobra before the race including a dyno, yet they showed website pics of the E55 and didn't dyno it to prove it was stock. Seems odd to me

just in case you guys didnt know, the Mercedes is a $76,000 5.4L 469 hp V8. that cobra was 452hp. that being said there isnt a huge differance in HP but the AMG has more and with a good driver what we see really isnt a big surprise.

No I knew what the hp of the E55 was, but that is 469 hp is rated at the flywheel not at the wheels. On the other hand the 452 hp on the modded 03 Cobra is at the wheels. There is a big difference 469 flywheel horsepower does not translate to near 452 rear wheel horsepower.

I dont think the gearing should matter that much given the cobra should have and extensive hp advantage given the hp taken at the wheels

soooo basically what it comes down to is that most of you belive that isnt a stock AMG. ok maybe it isnt, i can go with that.

That was a stock AMG, I believe it. The Benz hooks up hard and has sweet auto tranny The new E55, S55, SL55 are the real deal. I have seen them in action, These things are all over the place here. I watched an old guy in a SL55 light 'em up at 45mph just getting on it.

Well its either the driver or maybe the Cobra wasn't 452 RWHP, because maybe that isn't the real dyno HP results. Maybe they upped it to make him look bad, because they could have showed his dyno sheet to prove it, OR maybe the Mercedes is modded. Because a Cobra with that much HP (Over 500 flywheel) should run in the 11s easy. My brothers car dynoed at 338 RWHP and runs a 12.8 on street tires. So its either the driver, or they are overrating the Cobras horsepower.

If using the 15% drivetrain loss to the wheels. A Cobra rated at 390 horsepower should have about 331.5 HP flywheel.
So
452 RWHP minus stock (est) 331 HP = 120 HP difference
120 RWHP = 138 calculated HP Flywheel


So CAI/Exhaust/Pulley/Chip is adding (estimated) 138 flywheel horsepower?

So lets take the max you can get out of these

CAI: 15-20 (Well will say 20)
Exhaust: 15-20 (20)
Chip 10-20 (20)
Pulley i hear can add 50 HP on a supercharged Cobra so (50)

Thats 110 so
So that would mean underrated?

The AMG has a sophisticated TC, along with paddle shifters. The Cobra driver can't hope to match a paddle shifter for speed. and can't correct wheelspin as quickly as the computers on the AMG.

The Mercedes definantly has some great Technology behind it, but it does weigh alot.
