Default Long tube or shorty headers?

Im getting the Magnaflow Cat-Back but wanted to know what the best set up would be with it? Im getting the Bassani X-pipe but dont know dont know if long tube headers are best with it or shortys?

Regardless of what set up you're going with Longtubes are always better. Getting shorty's really wouldn't do anything but make your under hood appearance better. Longtubes give you more power throughout the whole power band. The only bad thing about longtubes is that I don't think you can pass emissions testing with them.

Oh ok so then in your opinion what do you think would be the best set up then? If I go with the Magnaflow cat-backs what else should I add to the exsuahst?

Me personally if you're looking for more power I would go with the mufflers of your choice a x-pipe and longtube headers. If you can't really do the longtubes i would just change the x-pipe and pick the mufflers of your choice. Thats what I would do in a nut shell. I have a 05 GT and I'm changing my mufflers tomorrow and also getting JBA longtubes soon and a JBA catted x-pipe.

Do you have state testing? If so it's 50/50. You can pass the pollution sniffer part if you have the o2 bung for o2's but you wont pass a visual because Lt's are for off road ONLY ()!

Long tubes will give you more power in the higher rpm's. Shorty's will give you more power in the lower rpms. Me I have lt's I love them I will never go back and we had state testing, no longer for 95 and below but when I had to go I passed the test.

If you cant do the set up on your own I'd stay with shortys. Reason is if you fail you'll have to pay to switch it over again to pass. And if you cant do it on your own or have a lift it will be a pain to do it on the ground.

What jay said was good,

Mid pipe back will get you a better sound and some power.

*** If you don't know (not calling ya dumb but I've seen it before) the mid pipe will differ in size depending if you get long tubes of shorty's.

+1 on emissions. You may or may not pass. From my experience, unless your pushing alot of power, the lt will kill your torque on the bottom end but will pick up some hp at the top end. Once you are pushing around 600hp, then you will see a difference all the way across.

I found long tube headers increased the power at all levels and are well worth the investment...I have BBKs with matching hi flow h with cats with 40 flows into stock tailpipes...nice sound and pretty quiet when cruising

I have the Bassani mid lengths, bassani X and their catback and love the sound. With FI, the shorties will net more power than a N/A car but not really worth the money or time for install. I would get either the mid lengths or long tubes. If you can't get either, just stick to the Bassani X pipe. It'll work with your stock headers and the catback you have now. If you get longtubes, you need a shorty x pipe for it. If you get the Bassani mid lengths, it comes with tubes that will still work with the Bassani X pipe, won't need the shorty X pipe.
