03/04 Cobra's also have a steel block due to the supercharger.
Mach spoilers are painted. They are painted matt black just like the original Mach's in 69/70. They also have the shaker, chin spoiler, and grill delete. The striping is all matt black. Mach's in 69 and 70 had the same differences from the standard mustang.
What ford was trying to do was bring a little retro styling without going overboard. The Mach motor is similiar to the 99-00 cobra motor only in the bottom end. the valvetrain is different. The cams are borrowed from the Navagatorand Marauder and increase's the low end torque. Mach's compression ratio is 10.1:1 where as the 99-00 Cobra's had compression in the 9.X:1 range. Not much of a difference but the Mach's are dynoing out Approx 20rwhp higher than the 99-00 Cobra's. Ford underated the HP on the Mach just like they did on the Cobra. You also get a live axle and no IRS in the Mach. It is setup for drag racing. The suspension is different then the GT. The braking system in the Mach use's brembo brakes dual piston to stop the pony on a dime.
The Mach is NOT just a GT with a funny looking hood and graphics. Take a ride in one and you will see it's a totally different horse. Just like there is no comparision with the Cobra. Very noticable differences in power between these cars.
Mach 1 production for the two years has been estimated at approx. 14,000 units.
