Default Wheel hop on take off ( peel'n out )??

I notice my 96 Cobra wheel hops when i take off ( peel'n out ). Im planning to order the Maximum Motorsport grip package. U guys think thatll help or is it something to do with my rear end, Cause I notice i have to let it ripped up to 5k rpm to get both wheels down to spin. Anything lower rpm is pretty embarassing, I notice alot of bouncing from the rearend. Should i get a new posi unit? Car is pretty fast & all but thats the only down fall of it.

So when you get to 5K in first gear you start to get wheel hop? I had the same problem. Tires help out big time. So do control arms. The best thing is actually a torque arm. But I don't have that kinda money.

If i launch it on lower rpm like 3k my rear bounce like crazy(seems like one wheel is spinning & it wont even leave any mark on the ground), I have to launch around 4.5k to 5k to get both wheels to spin. It seem like i have to put alot of efort to it.
I actually add more air to my tires yesterday 38psi & let it ripped around 3.5k & i got both wheels to spin.
but damn when i was getting on an onramp with a little turn & at the end of the turn has a alittle bump my rear bounce like crazy when i hit the bump, I always get on this ramp & it seems like putting more air to my tires made my car to bounce when im on the throttle. I really think i need to do something with this suspension. This stock suspension is crappy. the car only have 28k miles on it i barely drive it. Only when i wanna f*** around. Im just lagg'n on the mods cause of work 6 days a week 10 hours aday & im mostly at the gym gett'n my swole on. I should make a priority Huh!

It sounds to my like the shocks are gone. Especially the quad shocks, which keep wheel hop from happening. I didn't see shocks in your mod list.

Even with only 28K miles, the car is still 8 years old and if those are the original, they are do for a change. I would say they have served you well for lasting that long.

I eliminated my quad shocks to fit a 285 tire, and went to harder urethane bushings in the control arms, and the wheel hop never happened again.

Now, if it would only stop spinning in first, through second, through third...fourth...

I think the reason why you guys are experiencing wheel hop is because of the cobra's IRS. I have been in Cobras with an IRS and cobras with soild axle set-ups and the solid axle setups dont wheel hop at all. Just a thought.

IRS equipped Cobra's came about in 1999. The Cobra in question is a 1996, which has the solid axle. Your right about wheel hop problems in IRS equipped 99+ Cobra's though.

IRS=Independant Rear Suspension. '99+ Cobra's are the only mustangs sporting them, the rest are solid live axles.
