There is no 05 cobra. SVT "May" pick it up in 06 but thats still not for sure. I saw a 05 GT yesterday here in LA. It had Michigan plates and a bunch of sensor gear. The car looks great but from what I hear its a heavy pig. They cut the 32 valve engine down to a 24 valve engine. HP is way down. Weight is up because its built on the lincoln chassis. They will have to go a long way to make me trade my Mystic 04.

hey duke, the 05 gt is by far the best one so far, but it ain't no 03-04cobra. and it don't weigh as much as my convertible. i'll wait for the 06 cobra, cause you know it's going to be even better than the previous years! talk to ya later, Jon

Please have half a clue before you try to hammer on a car.

The current GT has 16 valves, so a 24 valve engine is an improvement.

The current GT has 260 HP (published by Ford), so 305 HP on the GT is an improvement

The weight difference is said to be within 300 lbs so calling it a heavy pig is quite a stretch.

I drive a 97 Cobra, rated at the same 305 HP, and I know for certain that I have a LOT more pull than the current GT's.

It is rumored that the new Cobra (not due out until the 07 model year) will have 450-500 horse, up from the current rating of 390.

Please take a minute or two and look up some of these things before running in and smashing on a car, you have yet to drive.

I drive a 04 cobra thats rather modified. every GT, Mach 1, and what ever else is slow... sorry but its the truth

Mustang GT's have NEVER been the end all and be all of auto performance from the factory.

The new 05 is the fastest production mustang ever built, Comparing it to other vehicles in its price range and class, its hardly a slow pig.

Comparing it to purpose built race cars, limited production sports cars costing twice as much, or psuedo exotic cars well hell yea its gonna be a slow pig.

I think one would be hard pressed to find a full production vehicle in the same price range that can hang with the new GT, yes there are a few out there I am sure, but it is a very short list.

um I think the 04 cobra is still the fastest production stang. not the 05 GT.
