I was looking up to try and find out if anyone has put a auto trans in a GT500 and came to this site and was shocked at what people were saying about automatics. It kind of pissed me off. Anyway i am disabled and i cannot drive a manual that is why they need to put autos in the GT500. Think about young people with disabilities, older people, and people that served in the military who were injured and cannot drive a manual anymore. It really makes me mad when i see people saying that automatics are for girls or "people just learn how to drive manual its not hard" well you know what think about this, it would be pretty damn hard for someone with a disability to learn to drive manual. I dont care if it cost another i dont know $10,000 to have the option for automatic. I have had many GTs but would really like a GT500 or even an 03 Cobra. Just saying to all the people who are knocking auto transmissions, think about it, if someone wants an auto they could have a damn good reason for it.. wasnt planning on writing anything but i just had to vent my frustration...

I know Roush sells his 565hp Mustangs with an automatic. Someone's dad here just bought one.

saleen also makes auto stangs. in my opinion if it bothers you that much why not do a transmisson swap? easy solution lol. people knock on auto cause it takes no skills. accellaration is also isnt as good. as far as it being a "girls car" thats just what we say to guys that dont know how to drive MANual lol

Most people have no idea of what others are going through and they have no concept of empathy. They feel that if they can do it so should you, regardless of the situation. On the flip side, these same people expect the work to change because they can’t do something. That is what is great about cars. You want something done, someone will do it. I can't answer the question as to why Ford decided not to offer an automatic trans option with the GT500, but there isn't one for the Boss 302 either, in fact ever since they started putting superchargers in the 03/04 Cobras, you haven't seen an automatic option on any of the high performance Mustangs.

Anyway, check out this link. This guy put an automatic in his Shelby GT500.

you should vent your frustration with Ford...I have an automatic in my 427 car, I added paddle shifters...I wanted an auto for that car since you can be more consistent at the track
By the way it wouldn't be too much work to pull the 6spd and replace it with an auto from a GT, beefed up of course

call me a ***** then I love a well built auto. I would take a auto over a stick any day in my car, all but my beater due to the stick getting better gas mileage. I want/have a auto truck also pulls better I think with a diesel and the last thing I want to fight with while in traffic or trying to park with a trailer is a damn clutch.
Trust me if you have the $$$ someone will put a auto in your car make sure you just find the right someone and not a hack.
I am gone to put a auto in my 99 Cobra when I put a P/A on it. Dont get me wrong I will save the manual stuff but it is getting a auto
