Hey Tripleblack,
I think you mis understood my meaning of PMP Factory coming out with a 2007 Shelby Cobra GT500 Replica Kit - It's not out yet. they are debuting it at SEMA. Comes an OEM fit urethane kit & coming as full carbon fibre. coming out for the 2005/06 first then the 99-04.

I saw a PMP ad for the 05 kit for 99-04 stangs - and I really can't say where I saw the pic of their kit for the 05-to-shelby version... Maybe I imagined it!
Wish them the best of luck. If I can swing a good deal on the real thing, though, that's what I'll be doing.

I can't believe that you'll see these go for less than 55 to 60,000. My salesperson flat out says they'll auction one if they get one. Look what they did to the Thunderbird. They languished on the lots with prices nearly 60,000.
I do hope that I'm wrong. But hey, they have got dollar signs in their eyes.
Where did you get your info? I called Team Ford today and they have no waiting list. Also Ford Country and Gauden are taking names but no deposits. Each dealer only expects to get 1-2 cars. As for an MSRP, they were all tight lipped, obviously they are going to charge an adjusted mark up value on the few cars we get in Vegas. If the MSRP is what you say, expect another 6 or 8 grand on top of that.

If a salesman told me that I'd laugh at him and then go buy a vette for that price. IMO, the whole point of the cobra was to rival the vettes but save yourself 20k. SVT is raising their prices a bit too much.

I'm like everyone, in that I want one right away too. What surprises me is that the sales staff aren't complaining to FoMoCo about not making enough of them for their customers. There is a bottle neck somewhere. Is the Shelby so complicated of a car that it's not possible to make more? It's just a variation of an existing product. Do we think that if there was a need for 10,000 more Crown Vic's that they would tell the grandpa's and grandma's "we can't?"
Here's the way I thought that it worked:
We have money...You have car...We exchange both items.
Also, an old and stinky argument for not making more is that "we don't want our customers seeing each other coming and going on every corner". But we WANT to see each other on every corner. And wave too.
I've been following this threadand making my own inquiries. Based on my info, I have heard that each dealer will get an allotment of SVT Mustangs to sale based upon the volume of SVT cars that they have historically moved. So if you have a dealer that sells let's say 30 SVT vehicles a year, then he would get less GT500s to sale than a dealer that sells 100 SVT vehicles a year. Ford is not taking any orders until JAN 06, and no dealer is authorized to take orders and are encouraged not to accept money for a so called"waiting list" that does not exist. Dealers are taking names for a "call" list and will make some sort of "fair deal" arrangement for the sale of the GT500s if they are alloted fewer cars than they have folks on the "want one" list.
Here's my take: If you are willing to spend say
$45k-50k for this particular car, consider this...
I bought a 1999 Cobra, a decent 1987 4x4 Chevy Blazer,
and a brand new 19' Bay Stealth Boat for a grand total
of $39,500.
So, I've got a car that turns heads everywhere I go,
a badass truck that gets compliments everytime
i fill-up (especially with the top off), and a boat to go
fishing/skiing/joy riding in to boot.
Plus, even though my car might lose in a race to your new
Shelby, it is still one of the nicest Mustangs ever built--It's
a freaking Cobra-- and it will eventually be a classic in the
future.
Just keeping it real...
