Default 94-98 cobra question

Does anybody drive their 94-98 cobra hard all the time? I have heard that it is good to do that to keep the rings and seals in the engine properly seated. I bought my car used with 60,000 and the previous owner babied it most of its life.........could that be why i am consuming like 1 -2 quarts per 3000 mile oil change? Should i be driving it harder more often?

The worst thing you can do to a car is drive it in stop and go traffic, thats what many call "babied". This is when you get more wear.

An abused car is the one that is pushed close or above valvetrain limits, (like when racing at the 1/4 mile), and with tons of stop and go.

A babied car is the one that runs at a constant speed, these tend to have less engine and transmission wear...though they could have more miles.

Something else to look at is the type of engine oil you are using. I find 15W40 oils better for summer, and 5W50 as an option for winter (depending on location of course).

The best thing you can do is take it for a 2-3 hour trip, at a more less constant speed, could be above 70mph ..this will help clean the chambers, rings and valve seats from carbon buildup. You could run some THROTTLE BODY CLEANER through the intake before doing this.
