I just wondered back in 03-04 did they acually have cobra's at the dealership's? I mean now maybe 1 out of 10 dealers have the new cobra. Back in 03-04 did they acually let you touch it or test drive it. Down here in southern califorina the only dealer with the cobra is in beverly hills and they have yellow tape all around it and they don't let you touch it. Also they only seem to have one...........in 03-04 did they have more than one in the dealer or what? Thanks guys/ladys

The production numbers for the 03-04 Cobras were a lot higher than what the new GT500 is. I think there are going to be 2500 or so built this year. In 03-04 I think they made 7-8000 each year.

Not all dealers had Cobras back in 03-04. You had to be an SVT dealership. The one I bought from had 6 Cobras on the lot when I bought in Oct 03.

I can't remember the exact numbers but the 03-04 cobra production was closer to 7000 for both years combined.

I'm sure my guess is the closest because I recently read this. Production was around 13K. The majority were made in 03 (around 9k). Around 4k were made in 04. Initially dealerships were gouging the prices. After the initial rush things dropped back to normal. I got mine with 6 miles for 30k under an x plan. These Shelbys too will drop although they are Shelbys.

Is that right?!

I thought they were building 10,000 GT500 every year for the next 3 years.
What are the chances of seeing gt500's down to MSRP this year? I was hoping to pick one up soon

I remember when they first hit the show rooms.Man I wanted one so bad.But a 10,000.00 dealer markup wouldn't let me buy one.I finaly got mine in 2004 for 28,000.00 out the door.
2003 coupes=8,394
2003 convertibles=5,082
total built in 2003 =13,476

2004 coupes=3,768
2004 convertibles=1,896
total built in 2004=5,664

Yes I am a nut..

Makes me wonder what you did to the salesman to get a deal like that.

Just kidding.

Just waited for the rebates to come out,Plus I also used the X-plan from my company.I bought the car new in August 2004 with 44 miles on it and it only has 4600 miles on it now. Most of them are a 1/4 mile at a time .I started the mod process as soon as I got it home..

So i guess as the years go on there are going to be less and less cobras. That will be preaty sad though becuase i would like to see cobras for many years from now.
