salvaged 03-04 cobra motor

i was wondering if i went to a junk yard and found a wrecked 03 or 04 cobra what would the engine cost? and what all would i need to do to put it in my car?

Our club VP just did something similar. One of the other guys in the club totaled his 04 Cobra vert. There was no damage to the motor or anything from the firewall back. The VP bought the salvage car from the insurance company for $8K. He installed the motor in a 2001(?) Mach 1. He sold off most of the other pieces and pretty much broke even. The motor alone was probably worth $12K. Check our club site for his contact information.

I read an article where the editor was excited that a low mileage Cobra (03) motor only cost 8k. I read another where the whole car was bought for 13k. It's not a cheap proposition.

I kinda figured as much. Certainly would be a nice swap. The older Cobra bubble body with terminator power and a live axle. If they weren't so pricey I'd love to put one in my 2900 pound 89 notch. I guess I could do that but it would destroy my 03,. I'd have to find a wreck.

There are three on ebay under "cobra motor". Two don't mention a reserve but the the third says he payed 8500 and couldn't finish his project.
