Default New buyer needing advice

Hi I currently own a 99 corvette with 380 RWHP and my brother decided he wanted to buy a high performance sport car so I told him the 03-04 cobras are nice and have the high horsepower he is looking for, so my question is how will a cobra differ from my vette? And what do you guys like about the cobras that are a stand out feature? I looked in a auto mag and found a red 03 cobra with 30,000 miles for 22,000 is this a good price? And when I look at it what are some problem areas I should look for so I don’t get burned when I buy?

I would not buy a cobra. If your looking for state of the art performance look to the imports. Bmw, mercedes, Lexus. Ford is just a cheap car with poor handling. a weak poorly engineered frame. Now a Mercedes that's a car! just remember to fork out an additional 45 grand!

Yeah, that's alot of help mustanghelper. Pretty ironic don't you think buddy? I know a couple people with SVT's, and they are great cars for the buck. Just be careful on who owned them. They could have been beat on for those miles. I've seen some low mileage ones on Ebay from dealers. Those are the ones with under 10k miles which you can plainly see were babbied. A little more $, yes, but far better in the long run. Those are the ones to go for. There are some good guys on here who can guide you in the right direction better than the both of us. Good luck, Tom

I have always had Stangs so I am a little bias. With that said my 04 Cobra is my all time favorite. With the exception of headers my car has all bolt ons and runs like a bat out of hell. The aftermarket is just flooded with parts for 03-04 cobra now.

The biggest difference you'll notice will probably be in the handling debt. as the vette is considerably lighter and a lot more nimble.

I think one of it's stand out features is the fact that it's pretty fast and capable of making alot more power without you having to break to the bank.

It doesnt have any glaring problems areas that I'm aware of.

I think when it comes to stand out features, the exterior of a cobra is pretty tame. No big flashy spoilers (except the r), no funny looking front bumper kit (except the r), no weird looking hood (except the r). The cobra just has a tasteful wing and bumper with some shiny rims. But it's the sound it makes that set it appart from anything else. I've got a neighbour with a cobra that runs it WOT in front of the house and it just sounds awesome when you hear the SC whine with the throaty exaust.

A big plus about mustangs is that aftermarket parts and upgrades are easier to come by than a hooker in vegas. They're all over the place and available at a good price too. Not something imported or poorly built bmw or expensive benz. Mustangs shine on the strip and are a cheap reliable form of fun and transportation, and would be able to hold it's own on an autocross track if needed. But not as well as a vette.

The suede inserts on the seats in 03 were gray unless it is a anniversary edition in that case they are red. The 04 has black inserts. Otherwise they are the same.
