Back in 04 when I bought the S4, I really wanted the Cobra. But I have to make someone happy by getting a 4 door.. Yeah its the WIFE!!! But after 2 years of whinning & crying, the wife finally said f**K IT!, get whatever I want
Heres the deal...
I have a friend who owns an 04 Cobra with 8k miles, original owner.. He's thinking of selling & I've been eyeing this bad boy for the last 2 years A few mods like CAI & Bassani X pipe no cats + catbacks, something I wouldve done anyways.
The problem is this, I know for a fact that the car has been tracked once... He said that he took it easy since he dont know the car well enough... BTW thats a Roadrace track, not no 1/4 mile drag strip... Which kinda turns me off, but it is a Mustang Cobra. Who babies their Cobra anyways? I know I didnt when I had mines.. As for the 07 Shelby, the WIFE told me I can pick one up as soon as it goes down to MSRP.... BUT WHEN GODD*^&%^!!!!! This wait is killing me!!!!!!
Should I be patient & wait or get the 04? I like both cars AAALLLLOOOTTTT!!!!!!!!
But the Shelby is so GOOOOOOD LOOOOKING, and the 04, damn the 04 is HOT!
Damn im talking to myself
I may be off the mark by saying this, but the new Shelby's probably won't ever get down to MSRP. you could be holding your breath for no reason.
but, I could be wrong.
on the other hand, buy the 04 and sell it if/when the Shelby does get down to MSRP.
you can enjoy the 04 now and the Shelby later. and don't let a one time track appearance in the Cobra scare you off. people do worse things on the street in those cars. and it has 8k miles on it. that is really reallly low mileage for a car that is practically 3 years old.

I agree the SHelbys will never hit MSRP, but then again Superbirds and Daytonas sat on dealers lots in 69,70. I really don't feel an 04 with 8k is beat on. Mine has 18k and still smells new. If money was no object I would probably go for the newer car.
Here is a idea, win the lottery and buy both. Joking aside hard choice but, I am partial to the 04. My wife wants to trade the truck for a Shelby though.

I have this feeling it wont go down to MSRP But Ford suppose to make 9000 units per year for the next 2 - 3 years right? I cant see the dealer selling all of em above MSRP.
Buying then selling the 04 to get the Shelby will be pretty tough. WIFE CAN BE A ***** about it, she does carry a 9MM for a living The only guns i carry is my 18.5" that ive been working on for years. I flex em here & there but theres no match with GLOCK 17

Yeah, wife really like the Shelby & willing to let the S4 go..... But if I end up with the 04, I might get rid of the Type R, which i really dont want to do... Type R is the sheetz, its a fun car...
Pssst, dont tell anybody but " i smoke alot of Mustangs with it "

Sorry Snake, I really dont know what happen back in the late 60's & early 70's.. Old a$$ M*******! Just kidding!!!!!! i've owned a few old shools before
I wish money was no object. I'm still try'n to figure out how I can make that happen...
I'm sure the Shelby's will come down to MSRP. I just read a post in the lounge where guys are seeing these cars at the dealership, so whats that tell you! It may be a long wait, but I'd hold out for the Shelby.

the reason you are seeing the Shelby's in the dealership is for advertising purposes. I would routinely see Ford GT's on the showroom floor that were already sold. It brings in customers and if nothing more gives the dealership a chance to be nice to future customers.
I read some where there is a waiting list for the Shelby's. they are all spoken for as of now.
those Daytona's were considered ugly back in the 60's and 70's, weren't they? they didn't get popular until later.

I've seen a Ford GT at a local dealership for the past year, so I don't think it's quite the same situation. Yeah, there is a waiting list now but they will catch up eventually.
stock for stock they run pretty close to the same times. But the new GT 500 does look sweet, but with the money you could save on the 04, imagine the mods you could get and still be less money.
I like my 03 Cobra, but I cant afford a GT 500 even at MSRP.
So just drive em both and go with your gut.
