Default Need info on the 1993 Cobra

I have a chance to buy a VERY clean '93 Cobra. IT's a 2 owner car and I personally know both owners. It's all stock, never wrecked, and a clear title. It has 110k miles and the current owner has all paperwork back to the window sticker and build sheet. Always covered and garaged, and is a norther cali car, living it's whole life in the Sacramento valley, 250 miles from the salt air. Guy wan't around 10k for the car. Blue book says around $7500 for private party sale in excelent condition.

I have heard that these cars generally bring more than blue book, but since I have never owned a Cobra, I don't know that for a fact. So...

The question is is the car worth $9500, or would that be over the top for this car, being that KBB says it's worth $7500?

Also, if you have or still do own this year Cobra, let me know how you liked it, and if there were any inhearant problems in the '93 cars. Thanks in advance...

Frank

Well considering the car came with rear disc brakes cobra intake and roller rockers and all of the bells and whistles. If u find a 93 cobra that is clean period it is worth the money if you can put out the green with under 200k on a 5.0 car is hard to find. If I had the money to spend I would get it; remember just because Kelly Blue book says it is worth 7500 does not mean the market will pay more. Just look at ebay and how much cars going for and u will see 5.0 gt's going for 10,000 or more with just minor mods and not one 93 cobra. I personally would buy it if I had the money if in the shape u say it is in!

Thanks for the info. I had heard that they go for more than blue book, but was only told that. The car is imaculent, especially for a 14 year old car. Teal in color with gray leather, 5 speed (I think they all had that tranny that year) and 4:11's. All stock down to the fan rims. I hope to be able to come up with the cash. We shall see. If I get it, I will post here with pics.

Man I wish I could jump on it! I would drive 2k miles to pick one up in that kind of condition. The only hard thing is trying to get a finance company to agree on the cars true value but if I am not mistaken a finance company will go up to like 20% of the blue book value if your credit is good enough or u put something else up for collateral.

Most won't loan on a car over 10 years old. That is the hump I'm trying to get over right now. I may have to get creative and faneggle some stuff around. I really like the Fox body cars. I had a '79 LX for sometime that was setup for parking lot slolom. What a blast to drive!

Being 6'2' AND 280lbs., the Fox body cars fit me just fine.

I have a 93 Cobra and LOVE IT! I was looking for a 5.0 to mod and play with, but when I came across my cobra with 37K orig miles, and a few tasteful mods, I couldn't pass it up. It's safe to say that you WILL NOT be disappointed if you are lucky enough to get it! If the car is clean like you say, then $9k'ish isn't a bad deal, I know of a couple guys here in socal that would snap it up without even seeing it at that price. I flew to Seattle and picked mine up, then road tripped back to San Diego with my 10 year old son! It was a trip of a life time that we both enjoyed! You'll have to post some pic's of the car once you get it. Good luck!

Thanks. It will be a couple of weeks before he makes the final decision. If I end up with the car, I will post pics and such.

I have pics of my Shelby restoration here in the gallery, so I may post them there.

We shall see. If not, there is another fairly local for $14k that has less than 40,000 miles on it and it's a 1 owner. There are plenty of Cobras out there for sale. My only worries with this car is that it has 4:10's in it and I drive alot on the freeway. It'll probably run about 2800rpm @ 75mph and that seems like it would be running hard all of the time.

Drop back to a 3.55 or 3.73--I just mean with this one YOU KNOW the history (the people). For a driver I wouldn't be scared of the mileage, for a put up/show car/investment-the other with the lower miles WOULD be a better choice, but if I was looking for a '93 Cobra just because that's what I wanted to DRIVE---

I've not looked,so I don't know how hard they are to find,or how they are priced,so maybe I need to just back up and punt(stay out of it, sorry,I'm gone)---P.S.-the Teal/Gray leather is the BEST,IMO

Naw, I knew what you ment. Ithink it would be better to have the 3.73s or 3.55s, but from what I hear of the 3.73s, there isn't much difference in RPM, though that is what most guys seem to run when they change out the gears.

And yes, I'm with you on the driver. In a year or two, my Shelby will be done (knock on wood) and it will be a fun car for weekends and shows. I'm looking for a driver that will be driven probably 3 or 4 days a week, and mostly on the weekends until the Shelby is done.
I have a Superduty truck that I use for work, and my other two vehicals are also trucks. I'm really jones'n for a car, and love the Fox bodys (also have an in-operable '79 LX). Your information in valuable, stay with us!

Frank

PS I like the Teal/Opal leather myself also. Though the red and black cars look more like a sports car...

I'll hang around,I wanna see what you end up doing.
True, the red/black combo is more sporty-but the teal/gray is a nicer (for lack of better term) look, and not everybody would have it.In 94 I bought a new one to "keep put up",I loved the triple black-still do-but really considered a teal one, sometimes I wish I had gotten it cuz there are a LOT more black ones out there than teal
