1. Get gears (4.30's)

2. You will not gain anymore power with your car above 6200rpm. The long runners in your intake just can't support much more. Your power curve will just level off for another 200-300rpm.

3. Please learn to spell, it's hard to read your posts.

well it depends on what you use it for most. i am hardly ever on the free way but even when i am at 65 i only turn about 3k, not bad. and yes your gears will be shorter, you will top out 4th at about 115 give or take a few, but, it WILL make your car haul some major A$$.. seriously take it from me. everybody told me negative things about the 4.30s too but then i talked to this tech at ford and he said just to trust him and do the 4.30s. if you are really worried about i though then just do 4.10's. and i dont know how often you drive on the freeway either but if you are worried about that then do 3.90's. its up to you. i would personally just do the 4.30s though. thats my advice to you. because you will be way more satisfied with them then you think. trust me. and get a shop to put them in that you trust. and get a bearing kit because your diff and all that **** will be turning harder and faster so get new internals for your differential. just a master bearing kit will do. you can get them from american muscle thats where i got mine. good luck mayne!

oh and your first gear will top at about 33mph, 2nd about 57, 3rd about 85 and 4th about 115 or so.. just to give you an idea. but see if you are making 110 mph passes in your 1/4 mile that is a perfect setup for you because you will be at your peak power band through EVERY gear. you'll take off about 8/10 to a whole second off of your time if you drive it right

What do you mean by top-end and how fast do you plan to be racing anyways? 4.30's will still take you past 120 mph in 4th gear, so why not get the most out of it! Many cobra owners who go with 4.10 say they regret it and should have went with 4.30's.

thats exactly what i was told. everybody told me 4.30's but i though it would be too much till i finally talked to a tech at ford and he told me to just do it and trust his advice. he said that a lot of guys with their cobras would come in to have 4.10's put in and later would be back with 4.30's and sometimes even 4.56's! 4.30's are perfect for the cobras trust me..

Im looking in to getting a soild axle right now b.c i can't hook up for $$$$ with the irs and i was told if i put the 430s in the irs all im gunna do is hop and spin. Also i drive my cobra all the time and gas well be really bad, but i can deal wit that. The axle im lookin at already has 430s in it so im gunna check that out tomorow.

ya know honestly, i would look into converting your cobra to solid axle. i mean the irs is nice cause it handles a little better and is a smoother ride but like you said you suffer at the drag strip because of it. i dont know though thats just my opinion. good luck man
