I have spoken with a dealer who has a 2007 triple black on black shelby GT 500 conv. He is willing to sell it to me at 11,000 over MSRP so I walked and then got a call saying he could order a 2008 to be here in the Fall for MSRP+$10,000 ..I was annoyed and continued to discuss pricing since we have purchased 5 cars from this dealer. We got it down to $7500 over MSRP (whatever that will be in 2008??) Before I sign the contract I will put if the MSRP goes over a 6% increase the deal is off. Does anyone have a clue if it will increase dramatically as I heard less are being produced. My husband lets me torment the dealers but I have done OK in the past but never in my life would have paid MSRP much less $7500 over but hubby wants it. He is going to sell his 2004 must cobra conv. It looks brand new. He babied it to the nth degree. I hope he gets the high he needs from the Shelby
What I really need to know is ..are the rumors true that the actual MSRP might be less in 2008 than the 2007 Shelbys? They make them because Ford did well in 2007 but initially the media were told it was a 1 year/1 time thing and then we now know 2008s will be rolling out soon. The "Boss" in 2008 is making an appearance. Will that diminish the Shelby's popularity as a collectible? I want to make sure paying ANYTHING over MSRP is not stupid...I realize in 20 years (if one keeps them that long) the price may be justifiable as a classic if in pristine condition that is.
I owuld check some of the other sties and I think that mustang news has the msrp for the shelby

Is it true Ford is doing away with the SVT division in 2008? Any news on MSRP for the Shelby conv 2008? I know they are making two changes from the 2007, the head lights and underseating lighting.
I've heard about some of the changes for the 08 but nothing for sure about the price. When you get it, drop me a line. I'm in NC and would like to see. Happy hunting.
I talked to several dealers as well as researched online and the base price increases $1000 so not bad. Trying to decide what options but the deal is going forth. Hubby plans to sell it in 4 years so I told him why not keep it because when Shelby goes to the great beyond(sorry but its true) then the car is worth gold (supposedly)but he has no plan to keep it for the 10+ years collectors say will be the time frame for the investment to pay off. As said before...paying anything over MSRP kills me. In most cases I torment dealers to the point of purchasing my cars for invoice or less although I send business their way. To the poster in Greensboro who wants to see it. Sure thing..I am sure hubby would love another mustang enthuist such as himself. Seems all the auto owners he works with go for foreign sportscars..not any appreciating how great the Ford mustang car really is and will continue to be but by all means if someone enjoys paying upwards of $80-100,000 for these foreign sports car..they can have them just get out of the way when you see a cobra coming

Hi! I'm not on top of convertible pricing, but list for the coupe went up $1000 and new options add more still (HID headlamps are another $525 and ambient lighting is around $175). 2007 coupe with the good options was $45,060 sticker (including gas guzzler tax and destination charges) while the 2008 coupe stickers for $46,685 with the premium interior upgrade, shaker 1000 stereo, HID headlamps and ambient lighting. I had been keeping in touch with several local dealers for over a year, and not one of them would accept my offer of $10K over. A friend of mine visited 7 Ford dealers last year offering $10K over sticker and was turned down by all 7. He wound up buying a brand new atomic orange tintcoat metallic 2007 Corvette Z06 for full sticker (loaded with options including navigation put it at $78K plus tax, license and title). And even then he had to drive to Indianapolis to get it for that price, since all the Chicago-area dealers he contacted wanted 4K or 5K over sticker for a Z06. Each Ford dealer will only be getting 2 (or maybe 3) 2008 GT500s, so they all try to maximize their profit on each one.
Keeping it for just a few years doesn't make sense to me. What could you get three or four years from now that would be better?
