My buddy has a 97 cobra and I want to buy him a cobra front grille emblem but which way is the cobra supposed to face?

That Cobra has the horse in the grille. The snake on my car faces torwards the drivers side, so if you're looking at the front of the car it faces to your right, if you're sitting in the drivers seat it faces to your left. I got mine from Late Model Restorations:

Looking at the front of the car, mine faces pass. side.

Performance Parts Inc. says they produce Cobra emblems for the front grille facing either way, thus giving Cobra owners a choice if they want to replace their running pony emblem. However, the logo in the Shelby GT500 faces to the right (toward the driver's side of the car) as you stand in front of the car and look at it. The grille emblem faces the same direction as the Cobra emblem on the passenger fender. (The emblem on the driver's side fender is flipped the other way to also face towards the front of the car.) The standard Cobra emblem faces towards your right when you look at it whether in a magazine or on a poster or embroidered on clothing or car seats.

Upon further inspection(going outside and looking), mine in fact faces the drivers side. Sorry!

We have all but sold-out of the LH-facing metal snake emblems. Customer's preference has been for the RH-facing snakes for their Cobra grille emblems. We'll be die-casting metal snakes facing RH from now on. Remember, our grille snake emblems are metal and the ONLY metal ones on the market for your 1994-2004 Mustang Cobra!!!
