Where is the shield that would actually make it a CAI? It is now a hot air sucker.

I may be wrong, but I don't think a heat shield makes a difference when the car is moving. If need be I can fab one. The MAF adapter is from an E-bay store for $4.95 the filter is from Pep boys $34.99
