Default Need Help With Pricing

This is not an offer to seel this car plese do not remove it from the forums.

A friend of mine is looking to sell his 03 Kenne Bell Cobra. He needs this thing out the door quickly. What is a ballpark figure to price this thing at. I dont know all the details but i think its a 2.2 KB, also has solid rear axle and professionally built and tuned. It is black and has about 19,xxx miles.

Any ideas as a basis of what its worth.

Sight unseen it is a 25k to 28k car depending on supporting mods and exterior condition.

Kelley Blue Book says $23075 for a private party sale. Keep in mind that mods aren't really going to add to the value for most people.

Granted the KBB and NADA are only guidelines. I would think $29k might be a little steep.

Oh... and by the way... Where've you been?

Ive been super busy. I think i only came on to update my profile briefly after I ran a personal best of 12.03.

Heres a question for you. My buddy said instead of going through the hassle of finding a buyer hes just going to give it to the dealer on a trade in FOR 19K. Would it be crazy if i bought it from him for 20 and tried to sell it for a better price? I mean im assuming i could easily, and by easily i mean very easily get 22k for this car

Why not buy it direct from your friend if you're going to do that. Cut the dealer out entirely.

Yeah thats what i was thinking. Give him 20 instead of the 19 the dealer was going to give him and make myself a few thousand when i sell it.

How is your car? Last i heard you were doing pretty much an entire overhaul on the engine.

I wish i could contribute more but ive been so busy with my new job for a certain mutual fund company you are probably familiar with being from Maryland.

I hear you... Hope to see you around though. Engine rebuild is complete. Started out just planning to do cams. Then turned into cams and heads. Then turned into cams, heads & 4340 forged internals. It just spiraled out of control

most friends of mine paid around 25K for theirs, with mods.... 19k miles, I think you can get around 25K, but be willing to keep it a few months before selling it!

average price ive seen on ebay and the classifieds on afm is $30k even. You may be able to talk him down, but when i was looking into cobras they averaged $1000-2000 over kbb value due to the market value of it. low mileage also tacks on more money than a website will list. these cars are in demand, but if you make a good case you might be able to get him down a little.

Hey hockey thanks for the response but i wasnt trying to buy this car from my friend i was trying to get a feel for the market to help him set a good asking price for his car. He needs to sell this thing ASAP and i wanted to see what is an average price for a car with his set-up. If i didnt already have a stang i probably would have bought this for myself.

Here is the actual add that will go up. Need help asking what a reasonable price is to move this thing quick.

2003 Mustang Cobra w/ Kenne Bell 2.2 L
This car is in great condition with only 19,xxx miles on it. There has been over 25k invested into this car with receipts to prove it. Some of these aftermarket parts include:
-Kenne Bell 2.2 L Supercharger
-SCT Tuner and Cold Air Intake
(Horsepower by Hermann tuned, one of the top Cobra tuners on the East coast)
-Kenne Bell Boost-A-Pump
-Upgraded heat exchanger
-55lb Injectors
-Accufab throttle body
-Bassani headers & X pipe
-Spintech catback exhaust
-Pro 5.0 shifter
-Custom gauges
-8.8 solid rear axle conversion
-New shocks, springs and caster/camber plates
-Boston Acoustic speakers
-JL Audio amp and subwoofer in a custom enclosure.
This car has been kept in great condition and will not disappoint. The 03 Kenne Bell Cobra can be your favorite daily driver or a drag racing champion. Must see, hear and feel to appreciate. My loss is your gain as I need the money much more than the car right now.

Contact me anytime with questions.

its a tough call. First off its the worst time of the year to sell. I'm also trying to sell mine for college money and no bids yet. a black cobra coupe with 19k on it alone would probably go for anywhere from about $27-$30k. Then throw in the $25k in mods and tack on another $5k and sell it for low to mid $30k's. Unfortunately for both your friend and myself modifications dont return their value on a resell. I think that he would be able to sell it much quicker in the spring and for a better price if he can just wait. If he cant, and needs the cash asap, I say ask for about $34,000. If he can wait a little longer, try for $41,000 but thats REALLY pushing it. I mean this guy has 900hp, less miles, $100k invested, and hes only asking for $43,000.cars.com: 2003 Ford Mustang Cobra check autotrader for cobras and try to factor in mileage and look for one with similar upgrades.

That $34,000 price evaluation is coming from a cobra fanatic and thats how much I would pay for it if I had the cash. Again, it may be possible to squeeze out a few thousand more dollars, but due to the time of the year, lack of buyers, and your friend's selling urgency, I think $34,000 is a very fair price and I would not pass on that offer as a buyer.

Thanks for the help guys. I am buying the car from him this weekend for $19k. Done.

I am going to put this ad up wherever I possibly can with an asking price of $25,000 negotiable. I think I can get that as well as sell the car quickly even though this is a bad time to be selling a car. If it doesnt sell in a month or two I would gladly sell that thing to you for $22,000 washed, detailed and delivered with a smile on my face.

What do you guys think?
