Default Oil Pan Problem

I went to the shop to get a new oil change. They declined my car because they said that the plug from my oil pan may be cross threaded. Do you guys think it would be cheaper to get a new oil pan or to just get it re-threaded? I was looking up on summit and a new oil pan is 33 dollars. Which one should I do?

you could get it helicored cheap. or have an oversized plug put in. if a shop changed the oil last take it to them and have them fix it...maybe a new pan for free

Default oil plug

The oil plug is a softer metal than the pan hole. You will have to look at your pan hole good enough to see if the threads are bad. Buy another plug and try to screw it in. Providing the pan hole looks good. You can also put some grease on the correct tap and trace the thread. Just take your time. If your pan hole is shot you will have to retap it or replace the pan. Good luck.

I'd use this as an excuse to get a NEW OIL PAN!
