I recently purchased a 2001 SVT COBRA and i'm having trouble with the transmission. its a 5 speed manual transmission that comes stock. for some reason it wont go in to first gear without bein at a dead stop and under 1000 rpms. and it wont go in to second gear at all. but it shifts fine from first to third and it hits 3rd, 4th, and 5th with no problem. what is the problem? how do i fix it?

check the classfieds, welcome to the site by the way. it sounds like someone ground something up, probably the easiest route would be to buy a new transmission, but if your in the same boat as me with a mustang that u paid like $2,000 for... there isn't much sence in putting a tone into it.

try and find someone u know that can take it apart and see whats up with it. and mabe do the work with your help for cheap.

Is there any grinding or noise?. First try installing a new aftermarket clutch quadrant and firewall adjuster. It might be the stock clutch cable has stretched and is making it hard to get in gear. If that doesn't fix it then maybe the syncros in the transmission are damaged or the clutch/TOB. Before buying a new tranny or taking that one apart try those 2 mods because they are cheap and good to have anyway.
