Default 2003 Mustang cobra squeaky belt/oil in supercharger

Hi everyone, need some info on squeaky belt. Changed belt to shorter sepertine belt and tension pulley, to eliminate squeak. other belt wasnt cutting it so I went wwith shorter belt. Squeak goes away after 5-10 minutes. This dont make sense. tryed the belt conditioner made squeak worse, had pulleys checked all good. How long do you wait to check oil in super charger? Had car checked out service guy said it was low on oil, doesnt seem to be burning oil no leaks, he said it was low?

Default Thank You

Hi, I am kinda new to this. I have loved mustangs forever. Bought my car from a dealer Ogden Lincoln Mercury in Chicago. 2003 SVT Cobra black rag top with 7.600 miles on it garage kept with all the bells and whistles dyno at 467. Price was $28,700 so I jumped on it. Car is in immaculate condition all around, just 3 months ago squeakey belt had all pulleys checked and car looked at. Problem fixed but came back, put shorter belt on and tensioner still squeaks, goes away after a solid ten minutes. Also this guy who looked at it said it was low on oil in eaton super charger. Didnt tell me there was a problem, how do you measure this and there is no smoke or burning or noticable leaks. Please any advice would be Great!

Thank you, David

Learning curb, I will adjust!

I am by no means a authority on the subject, but from what I have heard the factory supercharger oil should be changed @ 100,000 miles. Since you put down 467rwhp, you are not stock...so you have some mods on the Cobra. Normally, stock 03-04 Cobra's dyno anwhere from 360-380 rwhp. (needless to say, underated from the factory because of the 99' Cobra debacle).

There is not dipstick to check the fluid level just a plug at the front of the supercharger to drain and fill. Similar to a differential plug, you drain it and fill until fluid leaks back out the plug hole.

Default superchargers oil change

Since their is nothing in the manual to when to change the superchargers oil, a good rule of thumb would be to change it at least once a year. A smaller pulley means more boost which means more heat which inturns means breaking down the oil faster. For your belt squeal, you can go to CobraBob's stang shifter gasket-News for some good info. There is a chart on belt size to pulley size their. Welcome aboard. I am learning something almost everyday with the help of others on this site. I truly enjoy it.
