newbee ? Does a 99 or 01 cobra longblock fit my 97' cobra by taking all the top pieces off and placing my 97' engine pieces on?

yes it will work/fit, but you'll need the '99 up intake to match the intake ports of the heads, your cam covers, your fuel rail (because '99 up is returnless and yours is return style), front timing chain covers because your car has 2 coil packs and 1999 up has COP's, your exhaust manifold, unless you want to plug-up or delete the secondary air injection system and prob a few more items...
