Does anyone know what the optimum idle rpm for a 98 Cobra SVT is? Someone told me it should be around 500 (?), I'm running at 800 on idle, and getting lousey gas mileage.

Funny thin i was looking it up on thurday. And yes a normal idle was siad to be 500 to 600. hope that help. you might just need to clean you intake .

Doesn't that seem to be a bit low? I don't think I've ever really heard of most idles being under about 750 or so...maybe 700. Then again, I'm new to Fords...so maybe this is something different. I'd just feel like my car is going to die each time if it idled at 500. LOL

My '96 SVT Cobra is right at about 750 or so.

yeah same here,,,,ijust had to adjust mine after i put a new throttle body on it,,,it was idling around 200 and dying,,,,,feels right and sounds smooth at 800
