Default Need help on 1995 Mustang Cobra motor temps.

I have a 1995 cobra and I'm trying to find out how to lower the motor temp. The temp always read "al" on the normal gauge when I'm driving on the highway or the back roads. I've change the coolent many time since I've owned the car. Along with changing the coolent I've mixed different ways to see if it helps. I've read that the 1995 cobra came stock with a 190deg. thermistat. What's a better temp I want the car running at. And when I change the thermistat will I have to play with the computer for it to read the new one.

Thank you!!

I run a 180 degree t stat with a chip to have the fan come on sooner nad on high. I also have a fluidyne radiator. made all the difference. Today it hit 113 degrees where I live. Also check the condenser fins in front of the radiator to make sure they are not flattened out which will restrict air flow.

I've been looking for a after market radiator but one thats used. The fluidyne are very nice but I think the wife would be kicking my a** if I can home with a new $500 or so radiator!!!! I was looking also at a 180 or a 160 deg stat. But I didnt buy one because I didnt know if it would work the way it should by just putting it in do to the computer. Do I need a chip or tune if i put it in? The fins arnt flat there in good shape. I check it out with I pulled the a/c.

Thanks!!!!

The fluidyne should only be $400. My chip was burned to kick the fans on sooner. You should be ok with just a t stat change if you are dropping to an 185 or even a 180. Lower I don"t recomend cuz you motor won't get out of closed loop (warm up). There was a wiring schematic to hard wire your fan on high in tech once from this sites home page.

you can buy stuff from oreillys or autozone it lowers your coolant temp up to 30 degrees i think you just mix it in your coolant to replace water i think. or the other way around lol. it has instructions its cheap and easy.
