Default Massachusetts Emissions!

Currently in Mass you have to pass emissions on anything 1984 and older. My mechanic is taking the classes to get his inspection testing license and he told me yesterday that as of Oct. of this year that the law is changing to 1995 and up! My cobra is a 1994 so it looks like I will be ditching the cats very soon . What other things can I now do if I have no smog worries?

With the smog pump delet. do you have to plug the hoses coming from it when you take it off?

you do have to plug the lines off. you can plug it off at the back of the heads or like I did, cut the pipe. squeeze it together and weld the tip shut. I know people who just insert a air pipe hose and insert a closed end wheel nut and clamp it.

In Massachusetts, anything OBD 1 will no longer require emissions testing as of October 1-08. As for ditching the cats, don't do it. Put on a set of free flowing cats, but don't ditch the cats all together. No. 1, your going lose much needed back-pressure, and not to mention about 10-15hp. If you think I'm messing with your head, dyno your car with a set of free flowing cats on. Then dyno the car with the cats off. Then post your results, with a copy of the dyno sheet. I've owned Mustangs, since the sixties. Now I'm giving away my age, Mike.

IDK Man. I put the H on there and I increased my power by a huge amount. I don't have the money to by cats and dyno it and then take them off and then dyno it again so maybe your right but the bang for the buck (120 bucks and a couple of hours) was well worth it.
