Default 2001 Cobra Shift Issue

01 Cobra very hard to shift when rpms are above 5000. The car shifts ok the rest of the time just as soon as you get it above 5K it is like hitting a brick wall. If I shift really hard I can get it but I damn near break my wrist trying to hit third.

The clutch is a spec stage III also has an adjustable clutch cable and steeda shifter. Is this a tranny problem? Like shift fork or syncros(sp?). Or do I just need to readjust the clutch. If so how do you do that? I have never worked on a manual before. So exactly how would I go about adjusting the clutch with an adjustable clutch kit. Also the clutch grabs and shifts no problem under 5000 rpms a little stiffer than stock but not much.

Thanks

Jason

sounds like a clutch pressure plate problem to me and given the poor track record of spec clutches, I'd start looking there...

I also forgot to mention that the clutch pedal is incredable hard to depress. I let a friend drive it and he said it was the stiffest pedal he has ever felt.

Thanks

Jason

again, sounds like a typical "bad" spec clutch tome, I'd tear it down and look but I'll bet you'll need a new-different brand of clutch....I'd recommend either Ram or Mcleod.....
