Default IRS swap driveshaft issues

I just finished putting in the irs. now my car seems to sit exceptionally high off the ground. and i havent hooked up the driveshaft yet because i dont know if it is the proper length. One more question, how do i know if my car has had the cooling update done, i went to the dealer and they couldnt tell me.

The IRS will settle a bit once you've driven it for a few days. By cooling update do you mean A/C update to R134?

no, not the AC. The 96 cobras had the overheating issue, got a new radiator, fan shroud, and some other stuff i dont remember. i dont know how to tell if its been done to my car, and when i went to the dealer they looked it up and there was nothing except a parking brake issue.

Yeah it wasn't an actual "recall". The problem was that the cooling system design didn't allow for much air to pass through the radiator along with a few other things. I know that quite a few people had the same problems with the CCRM (Constant Control Relay Module), which controls fan speed. I would get a fan off of a 97-04 GT or Cobra. It's much larger then the 96. Also, make sure there is no air in your cooling system and don't use 50/50 mix coolant, you should run 70% coolant 30% distilled water and use a 180 degree thermostat.

70% of the mix being coolant will definately help with the temperature and a bigger fan-blade radius means that more of the radiator's surface will be covered by the suction that the fan will produce. The fan shroud must have a deeper tunnel or tighter radious around fan, itself.... I've never known AUTO ZONE to carry much of anything worthy of being installed on a pony......maybe its a brand name thats popular , if not. Talk to a rep or visit manufacturer's web site and see if it sounds good....You'll know.

easiest way to tell is to look at the bottom radiator mounts at the core support, if the TSB was done, it required new mounting brkts, which were moved outward @2" on each side and riveted in place....
so there might be signs from where the old lower mounts were cut-off and the fact that the TSB mounts were riveted.....also the coolant fan and radiator will have 1997 stamping #'s on them and also asper the TSB the "honeycomb" grill was to-be removed to promote better air flow to the a/c condensor/radiator......
